More than 16,000 delegates, over 700 exhibitors and 300 national and international speakers gathered at DMEA 2023 in Berlin on April 25-27 to advance the digitalization of healthcare.
DMEA, Europe’s most important digital health event, saw an increase of almost 50 percent compared to the last event before the pandemic and 45 percent compared to 2022.
The conference was launched by the German Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach, who acted as DMEA’s chief patron and concretized the future steps for the digitalization of the healthcare system in Germany in his opening keynote.
‘We are living in a time of great change,’ he said. ‘This is why discussion opportunities such as today are so important. I’m very happy to be the patron of DMEA again, and I’m particularly pleased to be able to bring you something that I announced at this very point a year ago: our digitization strategy. Digital solutions are a prerequisite for the growth of the German economy.“
Thematically, DMEA 2023 reflected the different facets of digital health: ePA, data protection, health data use, Green IT, interoperability, and IT security.
With radiology representing a significant portion of digital healthcare, exhibitors included all the major PACS manufacturers to showcase their portfolios from archiving to workstations and AI to portal solutions.
The important topics of career, young talent and sustainability were given even greater presence under the ‘DMEA sparks‘ young talent format.
Students, graduates and young professionals made contacts with established companies, universities and hospital IT departments, while employers got to know potential new employees.
DMEA was complemented by the DMEA online platform, where participants could network and obtain information. Many presentations from the program will be available on demand on the platform from May 2.
DMEA 2024 will take place from April 09 to 11 next year at the Berlin Exhibition Center.
