GE Healthcare and RadNet have announced a strategic collaboration to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical imaging. The partnership seeks to develop innovative AI-driven solutions to improve radiology workflows, enhance diagnostic accuracy, and optimize operational efficiency.

Integrating RadNet’s SmartMammo AI technology with GE HealthCare’s Senographe Pristina mammography system is at the heart of this collaboration. This combination is expected to transform breast cancer screening by providing faster, more accurate diagnoses through AI-powered image analysis. The SmartMammo solution prioritizes cases based on the level of suspicion and seamlessly integrates into existing healthcare IT infrastructures, making it particularly useful for large-scale breast cancer screening programs.

The partnership aims to enhance breast cancer detection and explore further applications of AI in other imaging modalities. Both companies see significant potential in using AI to address key challenges in healthcare, including improving the speed and accuracy of image interpretation, streamlining workflows, and fostering collaboration among care teams.

Kees Wesdorp, President and CEO of RadNet’s Digital Health division, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “By combining our pioneering cloud-native operating system, DeepHealth OS, and our AI-powered health informatics portfolio with GE HealthCare’s cutting-edge imaging technology, we are poised to revolutionize large-scale diagnostic and screening programs, streamline radiology workflows, and improve patient outcomes. This collaboration aims to empower healthcare providers with the tools to deliver more effective and personalized care at scale.”

Roland Rott, President & CEO of Imaging at GE HealthCare, highlighted the importance of AI in improving patient outcomes: “GE HealthCare has a legacy of imaging and AI innovation and is committed to our continued pursuit of new technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible to enable precision care. This new collaboration with DeepHealth harnesses our combined strengths to address critical challenges in healthcare today.”

Through this agreement, GE HealthCare will distribute SmartMammo and other DeepHealth solutions across the United States as part of its broader portfolio of imaging technologies. The companies also plan to explore additional areas for collaboration to expand the impact of AI-based workflows in healthcare.

This partnership represents a significant step toward integrating AI into clinical practice, aiming to improve patient care through more efficient and accurate diagnostic processes.
