Expanding Access to Real-Time AI in Fetal Ultrasound

Diagnoly has announced the expansion of its fetal ultrasound AI platform Fetoly™, now available on iOS devices. According to the company, the update enables obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and sonographers to access real-time AI support directly on iPads, without requiring additional hardware or system upgrades.

Already deployed in more than 20 countries, Fetoly™ is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing ultrasound systems, supporting broader adoption of AI in prenatal imaging workflows.

“Bringing Fetoly™ to iOS is an important step in our mission to make advanced fetal ultrasound AI available in routine clinical practice worldwide. Our objective is simple: provide healthcare professionals a second set of expert eyes in real-time, directly during the examination,” said Camille Dupont, Chief Technical Officer at Diagnoly.

Real-Time AI for Workflow Integration

Fetoly™ operates locally on the device rather than in the cloud, supporting secure patient data management. This local processing approach allows clinicians to use the application during live examinations while maintaining established workflows.

The application continuously analyzes the ultrasound video stream during fetal examinations and provides real-time feedback. Key functionalities include:

  • Assessment of examination completeness based on identified anatomical structures
  • Automated measurements and detection support for suspected abnormalities
  • Continuous real-time analysis throughout the scan
  • Integration with existing ultrasound equipment without infrastructure changes

This approach aims to support standardization in fetal ultrasound, which is known to be highly operator-dependent.

New Features and Clinical Capabilities

The latest version (2026.02.25) introduces improvements in real-time performance and anatomical detection. It also expands clinical capabilities with additional automated measurements and ratios.

New functionalities include support for detecting:

  • Ventriculomegaly
  • Corpus callosum abnormalities
  • Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR)

According to Diagnoly, these updates are part of an ongoing development process, with regular software updates intended to enhance performance and clinical usability.

Addressing Variability in Prenatal Imaging

Fetal ultrasound remains one of the most operator-dependent imaging modalities, with outcomes influenced by clinician experience and clinical setting. AI-based assistance tools such as Fetoly™ aim to reduce variability by providing consistent, real-time feedback during image acquisition and interpretation.

The platform is designed to support clinicians in improving scan quality, enhancing workflow efficiency, and maintaining diagnostic confidence, while keeping clinical decision-making fully under practitioner control.

Global Deployment Strategy

The iOS launch is part of Diagnoly’s broader international expansion strategy, as demand grows for mobile and interoperable AI solutions in prenatal imaging. The company reports increasing adoption across its installed base, supported by user feedback from clinical practice.

Following its recent collaboration with GE HealthCare, Diagnoly aims to further integrate its AI capabilities into existing ultrasound ecosystems.

Clinicians can access Fetoly™ via the App Store or Play Store or request a demonstration directly from the company.

Implications for Radiology and Prenatal Care

The expansion of real-time AI tools in ultrasound reflects a broader trend toward integrating AI into routine imaging workflows. In prenatal care, such tools may support more standardized examinations and improved efficiency without requiring major infrastructure changes.
