Cloud-Native Viewer for Modern Radiology Practice

GE HealthCare has announced that its diagnostic viewer View has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The viewer is a core component of the Genesis Radiology Workspace, an enterprise imaging platform designed to support radiologists with integrated tools for interpretation, workflow management, and data access.

As a zero-footprint, cloud-native solution, View enables radiologists to access diagnostic images securely from virtually any location with internet connectivity, without requiring local software installation. The system is intended to streamline reading workflows and reduce delays associated with traditional infrastructure.

“View is designed to meet radiologists wherever they are – providing secure, high-performance access to diagnostic imaging through a truly cloud-native experience,” said Scott Miller, CEO of Solutions for Enterprise Imaging, GE HealthCare. “By removing traditional infrastructure barriers, we’re enabling faster collaboration, greater flexibility, and more streamlined workflows across care teams. View within the Genesis Workspace reflects our commitment to modernizing radiology in ways that support clinicians and, ultimately, improve patient care.”

Addressing Workflow Inefficiencies

Radiology departments face increasing workload pressures, with studies indicating that radiologists may spend up to 44% of their time on non-interpretive tasks such as navigating systems, managing data, or waiting for images to load. These inefficiencies can affect productivity and turnaround times.

View aims to address these challenges by providing a unified interface that integrates image viewing, advanced visualization, and workflow tools within a single environment. The platform supports high-performance 2D and 3D visualization and incorporates AI-enabled features intended to assist clinical decision-making.

Integration Within the Genesis Radiology Workspace

The Genesis Radiology Workspace includes three main components:

  • View: diagnostic imaging viewer
  • Enterprise Archive: centralized storage for imaging data
  • Workflow Manager: tools for task coordination and case management

Direct access to advanced visualization applications allows radiologists to perform comprehensive image analysis without switching systems, supporting continuity across the reporting process.

“This next-generation viewer will set a new standard—and could offer the ability to complete almost all of a radiologists’ work in a single, streamlined workspace so they can focus on patient care,” said Dr. Laurie Sebastiano, compensated member of GE HealthCare’s advisory board.
