A Global Meeting Point for the Imaging Community

European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2026 will once again take place in Vienna, welcoming radiologists, radiographers, researchers, and industry representatives from around the world. Organized by the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the congress will focus on scientific exchange, professional education, and collaboration across medical imaging disciplines.

“Radiology is one of the most dynamic medical specialties and one that unites clinical and technical progress,” stated Prof. Minerva Becker, ECR 2026 Congress President. “At ECR 2026, we want to encourage all participants to share and take away their own ‘Rays of Knowledge’, contributing to a forum of professional and scientific exchange like no other.”

Scientific Program and New Session Formats

The scientific program remains the core of ECR 2026, featuring thousands of lectures from international experts. In addition to established formats such as “New Horizons” and “Special Focus” sessions, several new concepts will be introduced:

  • Subspecialties on Stage: Spotlighting selected radiology subspecialties and current developments
  • How We Do It: Interactive, experience-based sessions focusing on practical aspects of radiology
  • EPOS™ PULSE: A renewed oral poster presentation format designed for more dynamic scientific exchange
  • Out of the Box: Sessions exploring the use of imaging beyond medicine, including art and history

The congress will open with an immersive Opening Ceremony titled Light, combining live music and visual elements aligned with the “Rays of Knowledge” theme.

Plenary Sessions and International Exchange

Four plenary speakers will address key topics in modern radiology. Sessions will include discussions on artificial intelligence, advances in liver imaging, and insights into brain plasticity from a neuroanatomical and clinical perspective.

International collaboration remains a priority, with ESR Meets sessions highlighting radiology practice in France, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States. As the official meeting of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS), ECR 2026 will also feature a dedicated radiography program.

Industry Exhibition, Hybrid Access, and Sustainability

The industry exhibition will showcase the latest medical imaging products and services, supported by workshops, studio sessions, and symposia. A dedicated highlight will be the House of FUJIFILM, offering live demonstrations and collaborative learning formats.

ECR 2026 will continue to support hybrid participation, with many sessions available live and on demand. Sustainability initiatives include discounted train travel options and environmentally responsible transport choices within Vienna.
