New Imaging Facility Opens on Upper West Side

NYU Langone Health has opened a 28,000-square-foot imaging facility on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, offering medical imaging services for breast, neurological, cardiovascular and cancer care.

The new center, NYU Langone Radiology—Upper West Side, brings multiple imaging technologies together at one location. According to NYU Langone Health, the facility is intended to provide patients with access to imaging services within their neighborhood.

Oren Cahlon, MD, executive vice president, vice dean for clinical affairs and strategy, and chief clinical officer at NYU Langone Health explained: "This new location advances our mission to deliver the best imaging care in the world to patients right in their own neighborhood. By bringing together cutting-edge technology with a team of leading radiologists under one roof on the Upper West Side, we can detect disease earlier, plan treatments more precisely, and improve lives."

PET/MR, Cardiac CT and 3D Mammography

The facility offers integrated positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MR), which helps identify dementia, neurodegenerative diseases and certain cancers. It also provides advanced cardiac computed tomography (CT) for noninvasive assessment of the heart and blood vessels.

For breast imaging, the center offers 3D mammography enhanced by validated artificial intelligence tools that support the early detection of breast cancer. Additional imaging services are also available.

All results are interpreted by radiologists with subspecialty training and expertise in their respective fields.

Michael P. Recht, MD, chair of the Department of Radiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, emphasized the role of diagnostic expertise alongside imaging technology.

"Our goal is to provide patients with the highest level of diagnostic expertise and technology," he said. "Earlier and more accurate diagnosis helps guide timely, personalized treatment decisions and ultimately improve patient outcomes."

Electronic Health Record and Patient Access

The new center is connected to NYU Langone’s electronic health record system across locations. Patients can access their health information and schedule appointments through the NYU Langone Health app or the NYU Langone Health MyChart patient portal.

By combining PET/MR, cardiac CT, AI-enhanced 3D mammography and other imaging services with subspecialty radiology interpretation, the facility brings a range of diagnostic services together at the Upper West Side location.
