CE Mark for Dual Wide-Coverage CT Systems

United Imaging Healthcare has received CE Mark certification for the uCT SiriuX and uCT SiriuX Ultrix, which the company describes as the world’s first dual wide-coverage computed tomography (CT) family. The certification clears the systems for commercial availability across Europe.

The systems are based on a Twin-Ring Gantry architecture integrating dual-wide 16 cm Ultrix detectors and two liquid-metal-bearing X-ray tubes, according to the company.

Three Imaging Capabilities

United Imaging Healthcare says the platform is designed around three capabilities:

  • Dynamic imaging: Whole-organ imaging of dynamic physiological processes.
  • High-resolution imaging: 16 cm wide coverage for imaging fine anatomical structures across the body.
  • Spectral imaging: Whole-body imaging for material characterization and quantitative insights. The company said the systems are intended to support dynamic, high-resolution and spectral CT imaging.

European Availability

The CE Mark certification allows the uCT SiriuX and uCT SiriuX Ultrix to be commercially available across Europe.

“It represents a fundamentally new approach to high temporal and spatial resolution, and optimized spectral imaging. Through our ongoing dialogue with European clinical partners, we’ve heard firsthand what is needed to push diagnostic boundaries”, states Stefan Ulzheimer, General Manager of CT, United Imaging Healthcare Europe.

The certification brings the new CT systems to the European market, with the platform combining wide detector coverage with dynamic, high-resolution and spectral imaging capabilities.
