Its nu:view system will be introduced across Germany, starting in Stuttgart, to provide women with earlier, faster, more precise, and pain-free breast cancer detection.

nu:view is the world’s first dedicated breast CT system combining spiral acquisition with direct photon-counting detectors. Unlike conventional CT systems, nu:view was built for diagnostic imaging of the female breast, particularly in cases where conventional methods such as mammography, tomosynthesis, ultrasound, or MRI reach their diagnostic limits.

The system delivers high-resolution, superimposition-free, isotropic 3D images with a spatial resolution of up to 90 μm, all at a radiation dose comparable to mammography. Scanning is performed with the patient lying comfortably in a prone position, without breast compression, and takes only seconds. The underlying technology was co- developed by Prof. Dr. Willi A. Kalender, pioneer of volumetric spiral CT and founder of the company.

Bernd Schleicher, CEO of AB-CT – Advanced Breast-CT, explains: “For women, breast CT means a short, pain-free, and well-tolerated examination, and greater confidence in the quality of their breast diagnostics, especially in cases of dense breast tissue, unclear findings, or breast cancer. We are proud that ARISTRA’s radiologists are convinced by our technology, and that we can continue advancing the clinical standard in breast imaging together.”

Dr. Michael Ho, Radiologist, Founder, and Managing Director of ARISTRA, adds: “With the breast CT nu:view, we are deliberately expanding our diagnostic portfolio with a method that sets new standards in 3D image resolution, patient comfort, and clinical applicability. Especially for complex findings, it provides critical advantages. We are starting in Stuttgart at our ‘Radiologie am Feuersee’ practice and are already planning to roll it out at additional sites.”

New milestones: Biopsy unit and international expansion

AB-CT – Advanced Breast-CT is currently developing a proprietary biopsy unit for image-guided tissue sampling directly on the nu:view system, marking the next major clinical step in CT-based breast diagnostics. Market launch is planned for the coming months. In parallel, the company is pushing ahead with international expansion: nu:view is now in use at university hospitals and radiology practices in Germany (including University Hospital Erlangen), Switzerland (University Hospital Zurich), the Netherlands (Leiden University Medical Center), and South Korea. As of July 2025, the system is also certified and approved by the TGA for use in Australia. Further sites will follow.

About AB-CT – Advanced Breast-CT

AB-CT is a medical technology company based in Erlangen, Germany. Its CE- and TGA- certified product nu:view is the world’s first dedicated spiral breast CT with direct photon-counting detectors. It enables a new dimension in 3D diagnostics, without breast compression, with high resolution, and optimized radiation dose. The technology is based on the pioneering work of Prof. Dr. Willi Kalender, inventor of spiral CT. In line with modern, women-centered medical technology, AB-CT’s breast CT system nu:view embodies a clear commitment to “Thinking Women.” At its core are the needs of women for pain-free examinations and greater confidence in breast diagnostics.
